Nevada State Police (NSP) are investigating a fatal two vehicle collision that occurred near Winnemucca last week.<\/p>\n
The crash occurred at 5:18 p.m. on October 9 on I-80 at mile marker 155.<\/p>\n
Officials say that a semi truck was traveling eastbound on I-80 at a slow rate of speed due to a wildfire.<\/p>\n
A white Toyota Corolla driven by 65 year old Utah resident Lawerence Neely crashed into the slow-moving semi from the rear.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe front of the Corolla struck the trailer and remained in contact with the rear of the trailer after impact,\u201d\u00a0Nevada troopers said.<\/p>\n
Neely died at the scene.<\/p>\n
No other injuries were reported.<\/p>\n
An image shared by Nevada troopers shows a Celadon logo on the trailer involved in the crash. Celadon filed for bankruptcy protection and shuttered permanently in December 2019<\/a>. The company\u2019s equipment was later auctioned off<\/a>.<\/p>\n The crash is under investigation by the Nevada State Patrol\u2019s Traffic Homicide Unit.
