{"id":15429,"date":"2024-11-02T00:57:59","date_gmt":"2024-11-02T00:57:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pro-truckdrivers.com\/blog\/massive-bridge-fire-shuts-down-both-directions-of-i-471-between-ohio-and-kentucky\/"},"modified":"2024-11-15T16:49:15","modified_gmt":"2024-11-15T16:49:15","slug":"massive-bridge-fire-shuts-down-both-directions-of-i-471-between-ohio-and-kentucky","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pro-truckdrivers.com\/blog\/massive-bridge-fire-shuts-down-both-directions-of-i-471-between-ohio-and-kentucky\/","title":{"rendered":"Massive bridge fire shuts down both directions of I-471\u00a0between Ohio and Kentucky"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div data-td-block-uid=\"tdi_84\">\n<div class=\"tdb-block-inner td-fix-index\">\n<p>An early morning fire forced officials to close a major bridge connecting Ohio and Kentucky.<\/p>\n<p>Around 3:20 a.m. on November 1, the Cincinnati Fire Department (CFD) responded to a fire at the Daniel Carter Beard Bridge, which carries I-471 between Cincinnati, Ohio and Newport, Kentucky.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/video.php?height=314&amp;href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2FWCPO9%2Fvideos%2F1341055697058390%2F&amp;show_text=false&amp;width=560&amp;t=0\" width=\"560\" height=\"314\" style=\"border:none;overflow:hidden\" scrolling=\"no\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" allow=\"autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; picture-in-picture; web-share\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Officials said that a large fire broke out at a playground in Sawyer Point Park\u00a0directly underneath a portion of the bridge.<\/p>\n<p>Transportation officials from Ohio and Kentucky found \u201csignificant damage to at least three beams and a portion of the bridge deck on the southbound side\u201d along with less serious damage to the northbound side.<\/p>\n<p>The cause of the fire is under investigation.<\/p>\n<p>I-471 will remain closed at the Ohio River until further notice, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.transportation.ohio.gov\/about-us\/news\/district-8\/I-471-remains-closed-after-bridge-fire?fbclid=IwY2xjawGSB4VleHRuA2FlbQIxMAABHQMBPvRG0_JfTNpC9gEHsjXc5pWZhpOtsy6db1FDyrn42o5wVlS62Lmwsw_aem_cwl06yTTEAUm78MlDdQyBQ\">according to the Ohio Department of Transportation<\/a> (ODOT).<\/p>\n<p>See detour information below.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ohio Traffic Impacts and Detour<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>ODOT is diverting southbound I-471 traffic from Ohio by way of I-71 and I-75 South. In addition, the following restrictions are in place in downtown Cincinnati:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Liberty Street access to I-471 is closed.<\/li>\n<li>5<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0Street access to I-471 is closed.<\/li>\n<li>U.S. 50 East and West access to I-471 is closed.\u00a0<em>(U.S. 50 remains open to thru traffic.)<\/em><\/li>\n<li>Pete Rose Way\/Riverside Drive is closed under the approach.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Eastbound Pete Rose Way motorists may use Eggleston Street.<\/li>\n<li>Westbound Riverside Drive (U.S. 52) should divert to Columbia Parkway (U.S. 50).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Kentucky Traffic Impacts and Detour<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>According to KYTC, all I-471 northbound lanes will be blocked at the I-275 interchange, and motorists are advised to use I-275 eastbound or westbound to detour.<\/p>\n<p>The following is a list of additional Kentucky traffic impacts where the on\/off ramps to northbound I-471 are closed:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Alexandria Pike (U.S. 27) exit<\/li>\n<li>Grand Avenue (KY 1892) exit<\/li>\n<li>Memorial Parkway (KY 1120) exit<\/li>\n<li>Dave Cowens Drive (KY 8X) exit<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><br \/>\n<br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/cdllife.com\/2024\/massive-bridge-fire-shuts-down-both-directions-of-i-471-between-ohio-and-kentucky\/\">Source link <\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>An early morning fire forced officials to close a major bridge connecting Ohio and Kentucky.
