{"id":15770,"date":"2024-11-14T10:55:12","date_gmt":"2024-11-14T10:55:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pro-truckdrivers.com\/blog\/ohp-searching-for-driver-who-turned-left-in-front-of-motorist-in-fatal-u-turn-attempt\/"},"modified":"2024-11-15T16:53:40","modified_gmt":"2024-11-15T16:53:40","slug":"ohp-searching-for-driver-who-turned-left-in-front-of-motorist-in-fatal-u-turn-attempt","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pro-truckdrivers.com\/blog\/ohp-searching-for-driver-who-turned-left-in-front-of-motorist-in-fatal-u-turn-attempt\/","title":{"rendered":"OHP searching for driver who turned left in front of motorist in fatal U-turn attempt"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div data-td-block-uid=\"tdi_84\">\n<div class=\"tdb-block-inner td-fix-index\">\n<p>The Ohio Patrol is searching for a truck driver who fled the scene after turning left in front of a motorist on the highway, causing a fatal crash.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The accident happened back on October 24th at about 11:40 a.m. on Interstate 77 near Franklin Township, Ohio.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.timesreporter.com\/story\/news\/local\/2024\/11\/13\/troopers-seek-truck-driver-involved-in-interstate-77-crash-that-led-to-fatality\/76256163007\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Times Reporter<\/a>, the truck driver was in the right lane of northbound I-77when they turned left to use a crossover lane. The tractor trailer was then struck by an oncoming car traveling in the right lane of I-77 northbound.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The truck driver then reportedly pulled over onto the side of the road for several minutes before completing the u-turn and heading south on I-77, leaving the scene of the crash.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The motorist, 78-year-old Dennis L. Alsept, was then transported to a hospital, where he died a week later on October 31st.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Police say that they believe the commercial vehicle involved in the incident was a red tractor trailer with a sleeper cab pulling a flatbed trailer. Officers have identified the suspected rig using traffic cameras.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re pretty heavily into this investigation,\u201d said Sgt.
