The North Carolina Department of Transportation<\/strong><\/a> (NCDOT) is warning truckers that they will face a citation if they\u2019re caught using non-truck routes at the Tennessee\/North Carolina border.<\/p>\n

On November 15, the NCDOT issued an alert to the trucking community as ongoing Hurricane Helene road closures continue to cause routing trouble for truckers at the border of Tennessee and North Carolina.<\/p>\n

Officials said that more than 100 citations were issued on Thursday, November 14, alone for large trucks using non-truck routes to cross the Tennessee\/North Carolina border.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe ONLY large truck routes to\/from western NC are I-77 to I-81 or I-40 to U.S. 74. If GPS apps send you to other routes, don\u2019t try it. Doing so may lead to a ticket, getting stuck or even overturning<\/strong><\/em>,\u201d NCDOT said.<\/p>\n

NCDOT shared several photos of crashed or stuck trucks as an additional reminder of why truck drivers should stay off of non-truck routes.<\/p>\n
