Trumka Protecting the Right to Organize (PRO) Act of 2023<\/a>. This  legislation, among other things, would essentially nationalize <a href=\"https:\/\/www.overdriveonline.com\/regulations\/article\/15707980\/ab-5-update-california-teamsters-repond-to-ooida-appeal\">California\u2019s  AB 5 law and its ABC test<\/a> for determining employee\/independent contractor  status. Since then, she&#8217;s been twice denied confirmation as DOL administrator by the Senate, largely over her support of California&#8217;s AB 5 rule, though she\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.overdriveonline.com\/business\/article\/15540042\/dol-nominee-su-not-calling-for-ab-5-on-national-level\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">says she doesn&#8217;t support the rule going national<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Department of Labor under President Joe Biden <a href=\"https:\/\/www.overdriveonline.com\/regulations\/article\/15661539\/dol-rolls-back-trumps-independent-contractor-classification-rule\">rescinded and replaced a Trump-era independent contractor classification rule<\/a>\u00a0that set forth new\u00a0guidance on determining employee or independent contractor classification under the\u00a0Fair Labor Standards Act. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.overdriveonline.com\/regulations\/article\/15707667\/trumps-potential-impact-on-contractor-rules-epa-and-carb\">Some in trucking believe<\/a> a Trump administration may push to have his contractor classification guidance reinstated.<\/p>\n<p>[<b>Related:\u00a0<\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.overdriveonline.com\/regulations\/article\/15707667\/trumps-potential-impact-on-contractor-rules-epa-and-carb\" target=\"\" style=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">Trump&#8217;s potential impact on independent contractor rules, EPA and CARB<\/a>]<\/p>\n<h2><b>CVSA announces dates for 2025 Human Trafficking Awareness  Initiative<\/b><\/h2>\n<p>The Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) has set the  dates for next year\u2019s Human Trafficking Awareness Initiative (HTAI) for each of  its three member countries. In the U.S., the initiative is scheduled for Jan.  13-17, 2025. Canada\u2019s HTAI dates are Feb. 17-21, 2025. And in Mexico, HTAI is  set for March 17-21, 2025.<\/p>\n<p>CVSA\u2019s annual five-day human trafficking awareness,  outreach, identification and prevention initiative educates commercial motor  vehicle drivers, motor carriers, law enforcement officers and the general  public about the crime of human trafficking, the signs to look for and what to  do if you suspect someone is being trafficked.<\/p>\n<p>In preparation for the initiative, CVSA is offering <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cvsa.org\/programs\/human-trafficking-prevention\/resources\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">human  trafficking awareness resources\u00a0<\/a>to its membership and working  with\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.overdriveonline.com\/life\/article\/15667179\/prepass-weigh-station-bypass-expands-into-four-new-states\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">TAT<\/a>\u00a0(formerly Truckers Against Trafficking) to  distribute wallet cards, posters and window decals. <\/p>\n<p>During the five-day awareness initiative in each country,  CVSA jurisdictions will conduct human trafficking awareness and outreach  efforts and report those projects to the Alliance. TA  Express Houston is located at 4808 N.
