\t\t\t\t\tHi all, new to the trucking world happy to find this forum. I signed purchase order for a 24ft total length step van (box style like UPS) and have been getting compliance. My biz partner is having me get DOT#, CA# (cali highway patrol) and gli insurance<\/a>. Beyond that it’s up to me to get all other compliance documents. I’d like help creating a list of what other documents I need to get.<\/p>\n I will mainly transport conifer cones, seedlings, and specialty forestry products within CA state lines. Owner operator, no plans for employees. I structure my business such that the cone collection and transport is done only to re-stock my seed bank so I’m the owner of the cones until sometime after the transport ends when I enter into vending contract with seed buyers. This way I am a private carrier (avoids the complexity of being a for-hire carrier). Cones and seedlings are similar to DOT category “Logs, Poles, Beams, Lumber” except these are considered “Major Forest Products” while cones and seedlings are not according to logging regulations.
