A semi truck bonked into a picketing Amazon worker at a Detroit warehouse during a demonstration on Thursday morning.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The incident happened on December 19th during the Teamsters picket outside of the Amazon warehouse on 8 Mile Road near Woodward Ave in Detroit, Michigan.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201c(We were) slowly walking across the driveway. This non-union driver come up the driveway faster then you\u2019re supposed to enter a driveway; you\u2019re supposed to enter a driveway at a slow pace,\u201d Teamsters Michigan President Kevin Moore said to WWJ News<\/a>. \u201cWe were walking in a row, and my guy Roy was behind me. The truck come up and instead of stopping, banged into him. He didn\u2019t fall down, thank God, but you don\u2019t enter an egress like that.\u201d<\/p>\n The man was taken to a hospital by paramedics to be checked out, but was not seriously injured. Information on the truck driver has not been released.\u00a0<\/p>\n Less than 12 people were involved in the\u00a0 Detroit demonstration, but more workers are picketing at locations across the nation. \u201cWe\u2019ve got nine of them on strike right now this morning, from there to Grand Rapids,\u201d Moore said. \u201cEvery one of them: Shelby Township, Detroit, Livonia, Romulus, Grand Rapids; they\u2019re all on strike.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cIf your package is delayed during the holidays, you can blame Amazon\u2019s insatiable greed. We gave Amazon a clear deadline to come to the table and do right by our members. They ignored it,\u201d said Teamsters General President Sean M. O\u2019Brien, in a statement. \u201cThese greedy executives had every chance to show decency and respect for the people who make their obscene profits possible. Instead, they\u2019ve pushed workers to the limit and now they\u2019re paying the price. This strike is on them.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
