{"id":17367,"date":"2024-12-22T01:27:54","date_gmt":"2024-12-22T01:27:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pro-truckdrivers.com\/blog\/mountain-eld-xeld-revoked-by-fmcsa\/"},"modified":"2024-12-22T01:27:54","modified_gmt":"2024-12-22T01:27:54","slug":"mountain-eld-xeld-revoked-by-fmcsa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pro-truckdrivers.com\/blog\/mountain-eld-xeld-revoked-by-fmcsa\/","title":{"rendered":"Mountain ELD, XELD revoked by FMCSA"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div id=\"content-body-15710831\">\n<p><i>Trucking news and briefs for Thursday, Dec. 19, 2024:<\/i><\/p>\n<h2><b>Another two ELDs removed from \u2018Registered Devices\u2019 list<\/b><\/h2>\n<p>The Mountain ELD from the Alaska Safety Inc. provider and  the XELD are the two latest devices to be removed from the Federal Motor Carrier  Safety Administration\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/eld.fmcsa.dot.gov\/list\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">list of registered electronic logging devices<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>While not providing specifics on the device specifications  that fell out of compliance, FMCSA noted the devices were revoked from the  registered list \u201cdue to the providers\u2019 failure to meet the minimum requirements  established in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ecfr.gov\/current\/title-49\/subtitle-B\/chapter-III\/subchapter-B\/part-395\/subpart-B\/appendix-Appendix%20A%20to%20Subpart%20B%20of%20Part%20395\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">49  CFR part 395, subpart B, appendix A<\/a>.\u201d The removals were effective Dec. 18.<\/p>\n<p><i>Overdrive<\/i> has reached out to both companies for  comment and will update the story with any additional information as it comes  available.<\/p>\n<p>Any owner-operators or carriers using the revoked devices are required  to stop using them and revert to paper logs or logging software to record <a href=\"https:\/\/overdriveonline.com\/hours-of-service\">hours of service<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>If the ELD providers correct all identified  deficiencies for their devices, FMCSA will place the ELDs back on the list of  registered devices and inform the industry of the update.\u00a0If the devices are not reinstated to the registered devices list, they must be replaced with compliant ELDs by Feb. 16.<\/p>\n<p>As is usual for these increasingly common decertifications, during the 60-day period, enforcement officers are asked not  to cite drivers using these ELDs for \u201cno record of duty status\u201d or \u201cfailure to  use a registered ELD.\u201d Instead, they should request a driver\u2019s paper logs or  logging software or use the ELD display as a back-up method to review hours-of-service  data.<\/p>\n<div class=\"load-analyzer-inbody\">\n<div class=\"load-analyzer-inbody__inner-wrapper\">\n<div>\n<p>New<\/p>\n<div class=\"load-analyzer-inbody__header\">\n<div class=\"load-analyzer-inbody__copy\">\n<p>Overdrive&#8217;s Load Profit Analyzer<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"load-analyzer-inbody__body\">\n<div class=\"load-analyzer-inbody__copy\">\n<p>Know your costs? The American Trucking Associations followed  that lawsuit with a call for OEMs to abandon the partnership.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Clean Truck Partnership agreement entered between your  companies and CARB has served as tacit approval of the regulatory timelines and  requirements mandated by CARB,\u201d wrote\u00a0Clean Freight Coalition (CFC)  Executive Director Jim Mullen.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Recently enacted emissions regulations from both CARB and  the Environmental Protection Agency will cause major upheaval in the  trucking industry, CFC said, potentially leading to a shortage of internal  combustion engines and trucks.
