A semi truck driver survived after crashing off an overpass in Illinois over the weekend.<\/p>\n

The crash occurred shortly before 10 a.m. on Sunday, December 22, on northbound I-55, north of Rt. 30, in Plainfield, Illinois.<\/p>\n

According to the Plainfield Fire Protection District<\/strong><\/a>, \u201cCrews found the semi off the road and rolled over on the train tracks below I-55.\u201d<\/p>\n

The truck driver was able to self-extricate from the cab.<\/p>\n

Firefighters say that the truck driver was transported to a hospital for treatment of non life-threatening injuries. The driver of another vehicle involved in the accident on I-55 refused treatment.<\/p>\n

The truck\u2019s cargo of chicken broth and disinfectant wipes spilled out during the crash.<\/p>\n

The incident shut down train traffic in the area for an extended period of time as crews worked to clean up the cargo spill and remove the crashed semi truck.<\/p>\n

The crash is under investigation.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
