{"id":18089,"date":"2025-01-20T20:44:50","date_gmt":"2025-01-20T20:44:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pro-truckdrivers.com\/blog\/man-admits-to-faking-trucking-and-agricultural-businesses-to-obtain-covid-19-relief-funds\/"},"modified":"2025-01-20T20:44:50","modified_gmt":"2025-01-20T20:44:50","slug":"man-admits-to-faking-trucking-and-agricultural-businesses-to-obtain-covid-19-relief-funds","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pro-truckdrivers.com\/blog\/man-admits-to-faking-trucking-and-agricultural-businesses-to-obtain-covid-19-relief-funds\/","title":{"rendered":"Man admits to faking trucking and agricultural businesses to obtain COVID-19 relief funds"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div data-td-block-uid=\"tdi_84\">\n<div class=\"tdb-block-inner td-fix-index\">\n<p>This month, a New Hampshire man admitted to participation in a nearly $320,000 COVID-19 relief fund scheme.<\/p>\n<p>On January 8, 2025, Tyree Jones, 32, pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in Portland, Maine, to a charge of conspiracy to commit wire fraud.<\/p>\n<p>According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/usao-me\/pr\/new-hampshire-man-pleads-guilty-ppp-eidl-loan-fraud-conspiracy\">U.S. Attorney\u2019s Office for the District of Maine<\/a>, Jones claimed to be the sole owner of \u201cnon-existent businesses in the agricultural and trucking industries\u201d while he was submitting fraudulent applications for Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) and Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) funds.<\/p>\n<p>Through three three fraudulent applications, officials say that Jones personally obtained $51,666.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Jones also admitted to helping at least 12 other co-conspirators in submitting fraudulent applications for PPP and EIDL funds in exchange for \u201ckickbacks.\u201d As part of this scheme, Jones and his coconspirators filed falsified IRS and bank documents.<\/p>\n<p>Officials say the scheme, in total, netted Jones and co-conspirators nearly $320,000.<\/p>\n<p>Jones faces up to up to 20 years in prison and a maximum fine of $250,000, followed by up to three years of supervised release.<\/p>\n<p>The case was investigated by IRS Criminal Investigation.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><br \/>\n<br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/cdllife.com\/2025\/man-admits-to-faking-trucking-and-agricultural-businesses-to-obtain-covid-19-relief-funds\/\">Source link <\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This month, a New Hampshire man admitted to participation in a nearly $320,000 COVID-19 relief fund scheme.
