{"id":18132,"date":"2025-01-22T11:01:23","date_gmt":"2025-01-22T11:01:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pro-truckdrivers.com\/blog\/trump-orders-federal-agencies-including-fmcsa-to-freeze-pending-regulations\/"},"modified":"2025-01-22T11:01:23","modified_gmt":"2025-01-22T11:01:23","slug":"trump-orders-federal-agencies-including-fmcsa-to-freeze-pending-regulations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pro-truckdrivers.com\/blog\/trump-orders-federal-agencies-including-fmcsa-to-freeze-pending-regulations\/","title":{"rendered":"Trump orders federal agencies &#8212; including FMCSA &#8212; to &#8216;freeze&#8217; pending regulations"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div data-td-block-uid=\"tdi_84\">\n<div class=\"tdb-block-inner td-fix-index\">\n<p>In one of the first moves of his second term, President Donald Trump has ordered federal agencies to halt all rulemaking activity pending White House review.<\/p>\n<p>On January 20, 2025, Trump issued the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/presidential-actions\/2025\/01\/regulatory-freeze-pending-review\/\">Regulatory Freeze Pending Review<\/a> order, forbidding any agencies from sending a rule to be published in the Federal Register without the rule being reviewed and approved by the new White House.<\/p>\n<p>The order additionally requires agencies to immediately withdraw any rule that has been submitted to the Office of the Federal Register but has not yet been published in the Federal Register.<\/p>\n<p>Agencies are also advised to \u201cconsider postponing for 60 days from the date of this memorandum the effective date for any rules that have been published in the\u00a0Federal Register,\u00a0or any rules that have been issued in any manner but have not taken effect, for the purpose of reviewing any questions of fact, law, and policy that the rules may raise.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The regulatory freeze order will put the brakes on any immediate action from all federal agencies, including the U.S. Department of Transportation and the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA).<\/p>\n<p>A few of the most impactful rules that the FMCSA worked to advance during the Biden administration were the Heavy Vehicle Speed Limiters rule, the Heavy Vehicle Automatic Emergency Braking\u00a0rule, and a <a href=\"https:\/\/cdllife.com\/2024\/fmcsa-issues-long-awaited-freight-broker-transparency-rule-proposal\/\">broker transparency rule<\/a>.
