KSDK 5<\/a>, a 60-year-old trucker was heading east when he misjudged a curve on the highway. The tractor trailer then veered off of the road, crossed the median, and struck a concrete retaining wall lining Warrenton Steel\u2019s lot. The accident crushed the truck driver and scattered its load of meat.\u00a0<\/p>\nThe incident was caught on the business\u2019s surveillance camera, and workers can be seen rushing to the side of the wrecked driver.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cNext thing I knew they were screaming, \u2018Call the fire department. It\u2019s really bad,’\u201d said Holly Scott, one of the employees. \u201cIt was just talking to him, trying to make him breathe. Ya know, keeping him calm as much as we could,\u201d she explained.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe guy was completely crushed by the steering wheel and the engine was in his lap but he was still alive when they took him away,\u201d said Jennifer Grooms, co-owner of the business.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Grooms says that they were unable to get the man\u2019s name because he did not speak english, but that didn\u2019t stop them from doing what they could to comfort him during the two hour rescue once first responders arrived.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cHe knew we were there to help. He understood some of what we were saying,\u201d Scott said. \u201cHe kept saying \u2018Mama, mama, come take me. Come take me.\u2019 So I just kept telling him, \u2018Mom\u2019s watching out for you. You\u2019re going to be OK.’\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cWe just stood there, praying,\u201d Scott said. \u201cWe were hoping he\u2019d come out alive.\u201d<\/p>\n
The man was transported to a hospital with serious injuries. As of Thursday, January 23rd, he was still alive. Details on his current health status have not been released.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cWe just want to know that he is OK and that he is gonna be able to walk out of that hospital at some point. It doesn\u2019t matter what country you\u2019re from, it doesn\u2019t matter what city you\u2019re from, we were there for you and we hope that you make it. We\u2019re glad that you came out of that truck. We\u2019re sorry that we couldn\u2019t do more,\u201d Scott said.<\/p>\n
