{"id":18277,"date":"2025-01-28T08:21:25","date_gmt":"2025-01-28T08:21:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pro-truckdrivers.com\/blog\/700-workers-to-be-laid-off-as-tire-maker-bridgestone-shutters-tennessee-plant\/"},"modified":"2025-01-28T08:21:25","modified_gmt":"2025-01-28T08:21:25","slug":"700-workers-to-be-laid-off-as-tire-maker-bridgestone-shutters-tennessee-plant","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pro-truckdrivers.com\/blog\/700-workers-to-be-laid-off-as-tire-maker-bridgestone-shutters-tennessee-plant\/","title":{"rendered":"700 workers to be laid off as tire maker Bridgestone shutters Tennessee plant"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div data-td-block-uid=\"tdi_84\">\n<div class=\"tdb-block-inner td-fix-index\">\n<p>Hundreds of workers in Tennessee will face layoffs in the coming months as a major tire manufacturer plans to close a plant permanently this summer.<\/p>\n<p>On January 23, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bridgestoneamericas.com\/es_US\/press-release-details.en.2025.bridgestone-announces-business-footprint-optimization\">Bridgestone Americas announced<\/a> the closure of the LaVergne, Tennessee, Truck and Bus Radial Tire Plant, effective July 31, 2025.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis decision is part of the company\u2019s strategic initiatives to optimize its business footprint, strengthen its competitiveness and enhance the quality of the company\u2019s U.S. operations,\u201d Bridgestone said.<\/p>\n<p>The plant closure will impact 700 Bridgestone workers, the company said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDecisions like this are not easy because of the impact it has on our teammates and their families, and at the same time we are optimizing our business footprint for the future,\u201d said Scott Damon, Chief Executive Officer, Bridgestone West and Group president, Bridgestone Americas. \u201cWe are confident that this decision will strengthen our core business, enabling us to operate more efficiently.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In addition to the closure of the LaVergne, Tennessee, plant, Bridgestone also plans to reduce its workforce at the Des Moines, Iowa, agriculture tire plant and to cut jobs in U.S. corporate, sales and operations positions.<\/p>\n<p>Bridgestone also plans reductions in workforce and production capacity at facilities and business operations in Argentina and Brazil.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><br \/>\n<br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/cdllife.com\/2025\/700-workers-to-be-laid-off-as-tire-maker-bridgestone-shutters-tennessee-plant\/\">Source link <\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hundreds of workers in Tennessee will face layoffs in the coming months as a major tire manufacturer plans to close a plant permanently this summer.
