{"id":18313,"date":"2025-01-29T20:12:36","date_gmt":"2025-01-29T20:12:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pro-truckdrivers.com\/blog\/chaos-of-twin-span-bridge-crash-cleared-as-crews-lift-box-truck-out-of-water-determine-no-other-vehicles-involved\/"},"modified":"2025-01-29T20:12:36","modified_gmt":"2025-01-29T20:12:36","slug":"chaos-of-twin-span-bridge-crash-cleared-as-crews-lift-box-truck-out-of-water-determine-no-other-vehicles-involved","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pro-truckdrivers.com\/blog\/chaos-of-twin-span-bridge-crash-cleared-as-crews-lift-box-truck-out-of-water-determine-no-other-vehicles-involved\/","title":{"rendered":"Chaos of Twin Span Bridge crash cleared as crews lift box truck out of water, determine no other vehicles involved"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div data-td-block-uid=\"tdi_84\">\n<div class=\"tdb-block-inner td-fix-index\">\n<p>Emergency crews have determined that a single box truck was involved in the crash off of Twin Span Bridge in New Orleans on Tuesday.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The<a href=\"https:\/\/cdllife.com\/2025\/trucker-pulled-from-water-alive-after-semi-truck-plummets-off-twin-span-bridge\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> incident<\/a> happened on Interstate 10 westbound halfway across the Twin Span Bridge connecting St. Tammany Parish to Orleans Parish on January 28th.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wwltv.com\/article\/news\/local\/twin-span-truck-rescue-new-orleans-st-tammany-louisiana-state-police\/289-de15e8ff-9cf7-4bca-9cbb-35445eaa1151\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">4WWL<\/a>, a box truck was driving in the far right lane when it struck a flatbed truck and went off of the bridge, landing in the water below. The driver then managed to escape the cab of the box truck and was picked up by a boater who happened to be nearby. The box truck driver has since been taken to a hospital for treatment. His injuries were not considered life threatening.\u00a0<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">BREAKING NEWS: 18-wheeler has gone overboard on Twin Span\/I-10 WB. This is causing major delays. <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/WWLTV?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@WWLTV<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/oYajeg2GRU\">pic.twitter.com\/oYajeg2GRU<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Lily Cummings (@lilyrcummings) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/lilyrcummings\/status\/1884341397739724874?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">January 28, 2025<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The incident was initially reported to involve an \u201c18 wheeler,\u201d but officials have since determined the vehicle involved was a box truck. A second vehicle was also reported to have crashed into the water, but crews were unable to find a second vehicle.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe do not have details of who that witness was[who reported the second vehicle] \u2013 one can reasonably assume that it was likely another driver or passenger in a vehicle on the Twin Span,\u201d New Orleans Police Department said in a release.<\/p>\n<p>No other injuries have been reported.
