A truck driver has been charged after an inspection revealed he was missing multiple lug nuts on one of his wheels.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The incident happened on January 26th at around 4:30 p.m. in Opasatika, Ontario, Canada.\u00a0<\/p>\n
According to Orillia Matters News<\/a>, a citizen called police after noticing a commercial vehicle had a wobbling rear wheel <\/a>that appeared to be close to detaching.\u00a0<\/p>\n Officers soon located the semi truck and pulled it over to conduct an inspection.\u00a0<\/p>\n \u201cAn inspection revealed severe blackening and misalignment at the rear of the trailer, and one of the trailer\u2019s wheels had only half of its lug nuts still attached,\u201d officers said in a statement.\u00a0<\/p>\n The 24-year-old unnamed truck driver has been charged with operating an unsafe commercial motor vehicle, driving a CMV with a major defect, and failure to accurately conduct a pre-trip inspection. He is scheduled to appear in court on March 18th.\u00a0<\/p>\n \u201cThe OPP reminds all commercial vehicle operators to conduct thorough daily inspections and promptly address any safety defects. Incidents involving wheel detachment or vehicle defects pose serious risks to all road users,\u201d said police.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
