U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers in Texas recently seized more than 100 pounds of cocaine from a semi truck loaded with soft drinks.<\/p>\n
The drug seizure took place on January 31 at the Roma International Bridge cargo facility\u00a0located in Roma, Texas.<\/p>\n
A tractor trailer making entry to the U.S. from Mexico was selected for additional inspection using canines and non-intrusive inspection\u00a0equipment.<\/p>\n
After CBP physically inspected the truck\u2019s load of soft drinks, they discovered 50 packages of alleged cocaine weighing 120.15 pounds hidden in the shipment.<\/p>\n
The estimated street value of the seized cocaine is $1,604,262.<\/p>\n
The truck, drugs, and driver were handed over to the Roma Police Department, who arrested the driver and began a criminal investigation into the drug smuggling incident.<\/p>\n
