{"id":18634,"date":"2025-02-12T03:25:28","date_gmt":"2025-02-12T03:25:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pro-truckdrivers.com\/blog\/trucking-company-owner-charged-in-commercial-bribery-scheme-in-colorado\/"},"modified":"2025-02-12T03:25:28","modified_gmt":"2025-02-12T03:25:28","slug":"trucking-company-owner-charged-in-commercial-bribery-scheme-in-colorado","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pro-truckdrivers.com\/blog\/trucking-company-owner-charged-in-commercial-bribery-scheme-in-colorado\/","title":{"rendered":"Trucking company owner charged in commercial bribery scheme in Colorado"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div data-td-block-uid=\"tdi_84\">\n<div class=\"tdb-block-inner td-fix-index\">\n<p>A trucking company owner has been charged along with two other men in connection with a money laundering and kickback scheme, officials say.<\/p>\n<p>Trucking company owner Henry Lozano, 43, was charged with conspiracy to commit money laundering\u00a0alongside Edward Joseph Chmiel, 49, and Sabino Loera, 51.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/usao-co\/pr\/three-people-charged-commercial-bribery-scheme\">According to the U.S. Attorney\u2019s Office for the District of Colorado<\/a>, the three men were involved in a scheme to submit fraudulent invoices to a contractor providing services for a Colorado electrical utility.<\/p>\n<p>Officials say that Chmiel and Loera worked for a contractor providing services for a Colorado electrical utility company.<\/p>\n<p>In In August 2018, the three men allegedly entered into a scheme involving submitting false invoices from Lozano\u2019s trucking company to Chmiel and Loera\u2019s company. When Lozano was paid for the trucking services, Loera would direct Lozano to issue checks to a network of 15 other people, and then those people cashed the checks and then gave the cash to Chmiel and Loera.<\/p>\n<p>The scheme netted $1,495,781.51 in kickback proceeds between August 2018 and June 2020, the U.S. Attorney\u2019s Office said.<\/p>\n<p>Loera and Lozano appeared in federal court on February 10, 2025.
