The system features bright orange bars holding up multiple cameras angled to capture images of the interior of passing vehicles.<\/p>\n<p>The Acusensus \u201cHeads Up\u201d camera system \u201cuses AI technology to determine when people are on their cell phones or not wearing their seatbelts, and then it sends a message to an officer who is waiting down the road to take a look at that, determine if there is a violation, and make an enforcement action,\u201d police said.<\/p>\n<p>SLMPD says that the technology has been deployed in hopes of reducing crashes and roadway fatalities.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" style=\"border: none; overflow: hidden;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/video.php?height=476&amp;href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Freel%2F1774825226696587%2F&amp;show_text=false&amp;width=267&amp;t=0\" width=\"267\" height=\"476\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>To emphasize the new technology, SLMPD, the Minnetonka Police Department, and the Deephaven Police Department partnered for a special distracted driving patrol along Highway 7 earlier this month.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur new AI technology assisted officers, as we hosted a distracted driving detail on Highway 7. Today felt very educational for the drivers that our officers had interactions with.
