Man who robbed & murdered trucker after luring him on dating app sentenced to life without parole

The man convicted of robbing and murdering a truck driver after meeting him on a dating app was sentenced to life in prison on Monday.

23-year-old Mark Antonio White was found guilty of felony murder, aggravated assault, armed robbery, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony on November 4th near Lawrenceville, Georgia.

According to The Mirror News, White initially met 39-year-old truck driver Garcia Danielle Gaddis on the dating app Tagged, and convinced him to meet up in person on October 21st, 2021. The two met up near the Little Suwanee Pointe neighborhood pool, where White was caught on surveillance camera getting into Gaddis’ pickup truck just after 11 p.m.

Gaddis’ disappearance was first noticed when he was late for work, reported 11 Alive. He was then missing for three days before his body was found in the backseat of the pickup truck, which police happened to investigate during an unrelated noise complaint response.

During the investigation of the pickup truck, police found that Gaddis had been robbed, and discovered bullet casings that matched casings found at a July 2021 shooting, during which White had allegedly shot at his ex-girlfriend and her mother. White was located after he was seen on police body cam footage from an eviction at a townhome near the pool where he met up with Gaddis, reported WSBTV.

White was arrested in June of 2022. On Monday, he was sentenced to life in prison plus five years without the possibility of parole.

“We pray that this verdict and the justice it serves provides some solace to this victim’s family and loved ones,” said Gwinnett County District Attorney Patsy Austin-Gatson. “The defendant took advantage of Mr. Gaddis and justice has been served.”

Gaddis’ family says he was a truck driver, and drove Uber during his off time because he loved meeting people so much.
