I’m putting this question in the brokers section even though it’s essentially a rant against brokers. Not all brokers but some. I hope that the more experienced can answer some questions and I hope some carriers will chime in with their experiences like mine.

Today I onboarded with a broker with decent reviews because they had a load I was interested in covering.

I did their RMIS packet and got more info on the load. When I got more info I realized the load wasn’t going to work for me but I’d already done their packet. In the packet I requested 3 day 3% quickpay instead of 30 day pay. I do this with some brokers, especially new ones to me if they offer a decent rate.

A few minutes later I got an email from their compliance guy saying they couldn’t offer me quickpay because I have Progressive Insurance. What? WTH does that have to do with quickpay which the carrier pays THEM a fee for?

Basically, I see this as discrimination. I have great credit. I keep my word. I’ve been doing this 7 years now and can count on one hand people I can’t/won’t work with. I have kept Progressive Insurance because I have a great agent who has taken care of me and beat out everyone else I’ve tried at renewal time, 6 times.

This is the 3rd time THIS year I’ve been told by a brokerage that they couldn’t work with me because I have Progressive Insurance. Different reasons for this each time.

Please share your thoughts and experiences with brokers misguided, arbitrary, stupid *** rules they are implementing lately, I’m sure in the name of fraud prevention, but quickpay? Why?
