Sponsor? Reckon if you just showed up, presented well, and said you have been driving for 25 years that will do. Maybe a bit of a test run around the block and if you don’t take out the give way sign at the round-a-bout, you’re on.
Might change a bit from State to State, but generally for newbies if you have an open car license, its 12 months in a 6×4 tipper or similar (HR licence), then you can go for a Semi (HC heavy combination) or B Double (MC multi combination). I imagine if you can prove you have been driving a semi (HC license here) for 12 months in the US, then probably its just a drivers test, and if you pass go get a job. You can do either HC and MC combined, or HC and MC independently. If you presented a driving history to show any fines and its clear or pretty good that would help prove your history.
We don’t have 2/3s the stuff you guys have. If you like I can call a driver training mob and find out exactly whats required. I’m in Queensland.
Many of the mid to large interstate B double running companies appear to have high volumes of Indian, Sri Lankan, Pakistan drivers. Many can hardly speak let alone read or understand english, so I imagine you should not have any issues.
