I am not active on this forum often so forgive me if I’m talking about something that has been discussed. But it is in our best interest to share information and awareness on what the broker industry is doing to the carrier for whole market control through the ELD Federal Mandate. (agree to disagree what it is)

Highway is basically a new form of RMIS, but on crack. Its also the new Carrier 411 on the broker side, if you didn’t know that already. The biggest reasoning for brokerages to transition over is their all in one integration to whatever the brokers are using for software and from what I have heard, its pretty good in comparison to RMIS. What is scary is the ELD requirement as carriers as the claim from the brokers is the ability to vet carriers appropriately and provide freight security to shippers and receivers. Wildly enough not all brokers are require it but Highway is pushing it in all the broker packets, such as Project 44 was. When you fill out the broker packet on Highway, at the end it makes it appear as if the ELD requirement is the brokers, but it may not actually be. Part of the deceitful process to obtain your vehicles location forever from Highway, the website wont let you go back, forward or deny the ELD requirement. The website wont even let you go back to the carriers main menu on the Highway website. Only option is to close the window and let the broker know you filled out the packet because it does save everything you fill out. On the brokers side it will show you failed certain requirements. The broker can then make the decision to use you or not or waive the perceived requirement.

But, If the broker requires the carrier to register the ELD, move on. If you decide to talk to your ELD provider about it, they will (and should) tell you the API key for ELD integration is a forever code, and the verbiage of safety and security to carrier is a lie. Its a trojan horse into your business. Protect your data from being used against you from all sides folks. Say no to them for the ELD requirements.
