TL; DR
I want to become a truck driver for Walmart, but only want to work a maximum of 10-12 (Realistically 9-10) hours a day. Do you guys think this is something I could do?
Full Version:
So, a bit of background. I have been employed by Walmart for a little over 10 years now. Recently, the opportunity to take part in Walmarts Associate to Driver program has come knocking at my door. I have heard nothing but good things about driving for Walmart, and so far, every driver I’ve spoken to has said if I have the chance to get in, take it, as apparently its extremely hard to get into Walmart from the outside.
I was kinda hoping maybe I would run into someone who has driven/still drives for Walmart. My question is simple. Would truck driving be for me if I only want to work around 9-11 hours a day? This includes time spent at docks.
(And a bonus question for those who have driven for Walmart recently) Will Walmart give me any flak for only wanting to do 11-12 hours maximum per day?
I have no issue being away from home. I live alone. I have no family within the state. No kids, no significant other, no pets. Nothing. My biggest fear is that I am going to get into it, and its going to be nothing but 12-14 hour workdays with the only other time being spent sleeping. I know that if this turns out to be how it is, I’ll end up hating the lifestyle.
For those who ask “What would you do in the truck if you aren’t driving?” I would spend time talking with friends. Probably playing games on the side.
I appreciate anyone who takes the time to answer.
