Texas troopers pulled over hundreds of commercial vehicle drivers and motorists during a recent traffic crackdown designed to curb crashes.

Texas Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Troopers conducted an operation on November 6 — 7 throughout the Permian Basin, and then conducted a joint patrol with Highway Patrol Troopers on November 12 — 13.

During the pair of traffic enforcement operations, “a total of 618 commercial and non-commercial motor vehicles were apprehended,” according to the Texas Department of Public Safety – West Texas Region.

  • Citations Issued – 328
  • Warnings Issued – 1,228
  • Equipment Violations – 857
  • Speed Violations – 219
  • Registration Violations – 196
  • Driver License Violations – 69
  • Misdemeanor Arrests – 17
  • Felony Arrests – 9
  • Vehicles Out Of Service (OOS) – 84 / 57.5% OOS rate (exceeding the national average of approximately 21%)
  • Drivers OOS – 22 / 15% OOS rate (exceeding the national average of approximately 6%)

A similar enforcement effort conducted in the same region in October resulted in the “apprehension” of 853 commercial and non-commercial motor vehicles.
