I went ahead and made this a separate thread since it got lost in my other one about my boost issues.
Is there a way I can test the EGR valve? the volvo dealer shop foreman said that the EGR valve should “fail closed” when unplugged. So when they unplugged it, started the engine, and it still flowed gases they declared it as sticking and faulty.
But yet I keep reading about all these EGR tests that can be done through the volvo PTT software and they didn’t mention anything about testing it that way.
So is unplugging it a valid test?
Also there has never been any EGR related codes, wouldn’t a flow issue (to high or to low) set a code?
Also, can a EGR that is not working properly cause high EGT?
I’m just suspicious of their diagnosis since this valve is 3 weeks old. The cast iron on the valve hasn’t even had a chance to get rusty yet. lol
